By Jan 2012 to fits airbags, what is our role?

Over the last few years, the installation of airbags in new cars has become more common with most manufacturers now fitting at least a driver’s side airbag. Airbags are known as Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS) and are not a substitute for the use of seat belts. SRS Airbags are usually fitted on the front passenger and driver side.

The dateline now is 1st January for all car manufacturer. “For those having trouble complying with the deadline, come and talk to us. We are prepared to give some leeway,” Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said at a press conference.

So what is our role? We just need to know how to use and maintain it properly.

1. Airbags have to be used with seat belts.
This is to ensure that they function without glitches when required. Do not ignore the use of seat belts just because you have air bags. Remember that airbags are utilized together with seat belts, and not independently. Some cars required you to use seat belts before the airbags is active.

2. Maintain distance from airbags
If you are seated too close to the airbag (less than 3 inches), you stand the risk of getting injured when the inflation occurs. Thus keep yourself at least 8 to 10 inches away from your airbags to guarantee your safety. To do this, move your driver’s seat as far back as possible from the steering (do not compromise on driving comforts though, you need to be able to reach you pedals comfortably).

3. Make sure airbags directed to your chest
Recline your seat slightly so that you are not upright, this would give you a better distance from the steering wheel. And make sure that the airbag is directed towards your chest, and not your head. This could be accomplished by moving the steering wheel to as low a position as possible.

4. Airbags maintenance
When we talk about airbag maintenance, the only thing that can be done is to regularly check on them when you take your car for regular services. Let the professionals handle your airbag system, as it is not advisable for those who are unqualified to fiddle with the airbags. The personnel at the service centres would be able to run some tests to check.

Act now before its too late.

Who owns the History Supreme?

History Supreme worth $5 billion (RM15 billion).

This yacht has been apparently designed for an anonymous leading businessman from Malaysia who probably won’t be that anonymous after getting on this. The world’s most unique and probably most expensive yacht called History Supreme or Baia 100 Supreme that’s apparently worth close to $5 billion (RM15 billion). This yacht is design by Stuart Hughes.

History Supreme is made of 100,000 kilograms of solid gold and platinum and took over three years to be completed. It’s 100 ft long and wherever you look you’ll see the precious metals it was made of. Even the dining area, deck and anchor have been made using real precious metals.

The base of the yacht is wrapped with solid gold and the wall feature is specially crafted from meteoric stone along with a genuine dinosaur bone shaved in from the raptor T-REX. The main sleeping area has platinum accents just like many other rooms of this amazing yacht.

Stuart Hughes also had made Eclipse a ship that belongs to Roman Abramovich worth RM3.75 billion and iPhone chassis from diamond worth 5 million (RM25 million). The History Supreme is the biggest project that he had involved.

Who owns History Supreme?
In Malaysia, we had Robert Kuok who is the richest man in Malaysia and Ananda Krishnan is the 2nd richest. Is it either one of these Millionaires ? We had to wait and see.

Taking Care IMA Battery

First, it is important to be aware that hybrid cars have two kinds of batteries. The first is the 12 volt battery which is the same as any other kind of car on the road. It resides under the hood and is subject to the same difficulties as any car battery in a hot climate.

The second battery is the large, high voltage battery which hybrid cars use to store energy that is used for propulsion. This is the battery that most people are worried about, since it is much more expensive to replace. This is what hybrid owners have been dreading, including myself. But future cars will be more towards having battery as source of power, so we still have to face it.

Here i compiling tip on taking care of the battery for my own reference & other owners.

1. Avoid your car not used for a long period.
Hybrid storage for less than 1 months does not create any problems. If you plan to store your Hybrid for a longer period, it is a good idea to have the car started up and run at 3500 rpm for 8 to 10 minutes every 30 days. Also confirm the full charge status on the instrument cluster after this.

2. Avoid Excessive Heat
The worst enemy for all type of battery is heat. In a hot weather climate, this might be a problem for all hybrid/electric cars.

Although hybrid cars have their 12 volt battery under the hood like a conventional car, the large high voltage hybrid battery packs are “hidden” within the passenger compartment.

Actually during driving you don't have to worry because the battery packs on hybrid cars have thermal management systems built in to help regulate the temperature of the hybrid car battery pack. Hybrid cars protect their batteries. If the battery pack gets too hot the hybrid car battery management system would prevent the driver from “overusing” the battery. Full use of the battery is available once the hybrid battery temperature returns to an acceptable level.

When you park your car, Most of the time if possible, try to put your car under shady place.

3. Avoid blocking Interior And Exterior Vents
Hybrid cars often have some type of vent inside the passenger compartment to take in cabin air to help cool the hybrid car battery. Hybrid car owners need to keep these vents free from obstructions like extra luggage or other personal items. Generally, there is also an exterior vent for the battery compartment as well.

The more comfortable you keep the cabin the happier the hybrid car battery will be.
Taking extra steps to reduce interior temperatures and making sure nothing is blocking the battery pack's vents is helpful in keeping hybrid batteries healthy.

4. Avoid Overcharging IMA battery.
The IMA battery control module(s) allows the battery to overcharge. Occasional overcharging is a desirable function, but too many frequently repeated cycles of overcharge can damage the IMA battery. This damage is the result of excessive current and heat build up. Unique local topographical and ambient conditions in affected states, combined with a driving cycle that typically keeps the IMA battery fully charged, creat this potential problem.

5. Watch out for water
Water is a killer for all electronics. Even small amounts of moisture can sap the energy from your battery and cause corrosion. Normally, hybrid battery packs is stored under the boot, make sure that any water to be spoil in your boot.

Bottom Line Hybrid battery pack can last till the end cycle of the car if you keep it well. I will update with few other tips if i had found any.

Android 2.3 Coming to HTC Desire This Month

First the HTC Desire was going to get Gingerbread. Then it wasn’t. Then it was again. Now we know for sure that the HTC Desire would be receiving Android 2.3 because HTC really didn’t like it when the entire Desire community freaked out over the cancellation of their update.

The latest word on the update is that testing is going extremely well, and if all goes according to plan Desire owners should be receiving their fix of Android 2.3 by the end of the month. They reveal that there will be some cutbacks made to the Sense UI in order to fit it on the Desire.

Let see if HTC keep their promise or not. Hoping there is no more delay.

Got my ECOTINT Warranty Card

Today I got my ECOTINT Waranty Card. In the letter it stated that the letter being printed on 25th June 2011. So, roughly it took more than 1 month to get my warranty card since 14th May 2011.

What type of warranty it will cover:
"..., warrants the ECOTINT films against peeling, cracking, delamination, fading, decolourization and demetalization. We further warrant that the films such as properly installed by its authorized personnel meets the Visible Light Transmission requirements of the Akta Pengangkutan Jalan 1987 (Amended Rules 1994) as currently in force at the date and time of the original installation"

The important statement is that it's JPJ compliance. So, you can argue with them if JPJ peel of your tint or being issued a summons. As what being promise to me if this happens they will replace the tint and if you get summons, they will settle it for you.
